On second read it became a bit more obvious that "The Voice of Reason" was added later on to give some connective tissue to an otherwise pretty episodic bundle of short stories, but it all leads to a conclusion that ties a neat bow around said bundle. I stand with my original point: The Last Wish is the ideal introduction to the Witcher-universe.
