China Rich Girlfriend by Kevin Kwan

3.0

It was fun to keep following some characters from the previous novel. Especially entertaining were the shenanigans of Kitty and her attempts to enter high society with a coach and a reading list. Rachel and Nick are pretty boring in this, though I wish we’d gotten more of Eleanor. Several scenes of Rachel’s tour through the crazy rich society of mainland China dragged, though the drama at the very end provides a little plot payoff. Astrid’s storyline holds the most emotional weight and gets my investment, but then it’s frustrating when hers isn’t the main event of the book. A lot of style and some fun, but lacking in emotional and thematic depth.
