Charlotte and Rothbury are both kind of willfully dumb characters which got on my nerves just the right amount to prevent me from DNFing this book, but it was close. It probably felt like more of a let down than it actually was because book 1 is a new fave now.
Charlotte is a wallflower that was burned pretty badly in the first book and Rothbury is the one who saved her from total humiliation(he's been secretly in love with her for years). They become friends and Charlotte thinks she's helping him try to land her neighbor when he is just spending time with her because he will take what he can get but has trained for years not to show emotion and doesn't know what to do with them anymore, besides he still thinks she's in love with his friend.
This whole experience was pretty meh, but the last line made it worth the effort because I lol'd.
