The plot kinda just happens to Cass, and that grew tiresome after a while, like she had zero agency and she was just being tugged in whatever direction was convenient for the plot to happen.
The twist pulled it back from being a 2 star read, the unfurling of everything was surprisingly worth the wait. I’m glad I stuck it out, because I did almost DNF this at around 50% because I thought it was going to become unbearably repetitive, but it didn’t.
