The Five: The Untold Lives of the Women Killed by Jack the Ripper by Hallie Rubenhold

dark informative sad medium-paced

5.0

Putting the victims of Jack the Ripper front and centre makes for a compelling and enraging book. The women were dismissed as ‘only’ prostitutes even though for the majority of them, there is no evidence to support this conclusion. They were wives, mothers and daughters, but they were also complex human beings in their own right, and none of them deserved their fate.
