True Believer by Virginia Euwer Wolff

3.0

This is the sequel to Make Lemonade and LaVaughn is one year older and wiser. She is pushing herself at school to be prepared for college and is put in a harder science class and a grammar class. Her two best friends think she is too good and they have also found Jesus and think she is a sinner. She also has her first crush, her first disappointments in love. It is a very powerful story and the whole time I just wanted to reach inside the story and help LaVaughn make it in the mean streets that she lives in. This one has a little bit more mature content so I would recommend to older teens again.
