I Am Malala: The Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot by the Taliban by Malala Yousafzai

4.0

By coincidence, I finished this book on September 11th which made the book's message all the more poignant. Everyone should read this book, which is a passionate argument for peace and education in the face of injustice and cruelty. Malala's character and work are inspiring, and not to make light of her experience, but I got a cavity filled that day, and I was able to re frame the uncomfortable experience by thinking about how much trauma and pain she experienced with grace after being shot in the head. How fortunate that I have access to stellar health care and am extremely healthy.
