The Private Memoirs and Confessions of a Justified Sinner by Ian Duncan, James Hogg

challenging mysterious slow-paced
  • Plot- or character-driven? A mix
  • Strong character development? It's complicated
  • Loveable characters? No
  • Diverse cast of characters? No
  • Flaws of characters a main focus? Yes

3.5

A bit tedious to read, with an interesting narrative structure. Hogg's writing style was what kept me reading, despite my utter dislike of Robert. I'd recommend it to someone looking for something different or challenging, but definitely watch out for heavy Calvanist imagery :"( I did not enjoy that.
