The Thanatos Syndrome by Walker Percy

2.0

I've been excited to read a Walker Percy book for a long time . . . but gosh, it was terrible to read. So. Many. Words. Particularly names, unnecessary names, names that you don't know and don't make sense. I was disappointed by the story, too - I think the central plot point is interesting, but the linguistic part of the plot that's so talked up is fairly shallow, after all, and as a linguistic enthusiast, I really wanted it to be cooler. I appreciate the book as commentary on society, but gosh, it was terrible to read.
