I feel like the series up to this point was about these characters growing and learning to be better for each other, and while some regression is natural when it comes to real and complicated characters, there is a little too much rushing to get to drama from where book 4 left off, even while some of the heaviest and most effective emotional swings of the series take place during this part of the story.
