Secret Path by Gord Downie

4.0

This was a poignant story. The graphics were incredible, and I loved how just a few were in colour (the best of Chanie's memories). I also appreciated Downie's accompanying lyrics/songs. It created a unique addition to this graphic novel, and was unlike anything I have read and, or experienced before in regards to literature. This is an important story - one every Canadian should have awareness of. My only criticism is that if the reader had absolutely no background knowledge regarding residential schools, he/she may not fully grasp the content within Secret Path. Regardless, I highly recommend this read.
