Payback's a Witch by Lana Harper

lighthearted medium-paced
  • Plot- or character-driven? A mix

3.5

solid but nothing too out of the ordinary. I think i actually would've liked this book more if there wasn't a wizard triathlon happening but it was still fun to read about.
I also find it hard to believe that harlow couldn't let go of a grudge from when she was 17/18 even though she went on this transformative journey of moving to a whole new city and rebuilding her life from the ground up. im a hateful bitch too but even i would've let that shit go come like year 3 of me in my new life and Harlow is out here being like "this naive, out of touch, 17/18 yr old boy said something so out of pocket to me that I HAD to move out of town and never look back" like ????
talia was also the best character (surprise surprise) but I liked the fact that she was v set on staying in thistlegrove as it went against her character archetype
again, a solid read and even a read I'd recommend but the stakes in here weren't high at all for me
