Defend the Dawn by Brigid Kemmerer
4.0

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5. If you aren’t into Brigid Kemmerer yet, GET ON IT. So good. This is the sequel to Defy The Night, and it took a minute to build but the end was insane. Tessa lives in the palace now, and Corrick is doing his thing, when a ship rolls in and the captain requests an audience with the king. Harristan ends up sending Corrick, Tessa, and Lochlan to see through a trade of steel for Moonflower. But once they are in the open seas, they discover who the captain really is, and meanwhile Harristan is discovering some backstabbing of his own. A cliffhanger sets up a third book.
