Carry On, Jeeves by P.G. Wodehouse

5.0

Ahhh, what has Bertram been up to this time?

In short, he’s been off in New York, fleeing Aunt Agatha’s wrath, fraternising with a whole load of obtuse, obnoxious, yet lovable friends who are constantly getting into all sorts of hilarious scrapes, whereupon it falls to Bertie (or more specifically Jeeves) to get them out of.

These books are unlike any I have ever read! The plot line is similar every time - Bertie and co. get into trouble, Jeeves gets them out of it, Bertie gives up a particularly garish piece of clothing as a thank-you to Jeeves and everyone lives happily ever after - and yet they never fail to amuse. I suppose the fact that you know what it going to happen makes it even funnier when it inevitably does happen.

I would recommend to everyone. I thoroughly believe everyone should experience a little of Bertie Wooster, Bingo Little and Honoria Glossop at some point! The stories are light, hilarious and instantly put me in a good mood. If you do decide to read (as you should), I envy you the uncontrollable peals of laughter which you are soon to be experiencing! As for me, it’s onto Very Good, Jeeves, which I am extremely looking forward to, considering Jeeves apparently saves a grumpy cabinet minister from being attack by a swan!!!
