3.5 stars. "A Breath of Frost" is the first book is a new series called The Lovegrove Legacy. It's the story of three cousins: Gretchen, Emma, and Penelope who discover that their family may have magic and witchcraft in their blood. The book takes place in the early 1800s in England, which is a setting I absolutely loved. This young adult fiction book has a little bit of something for a lot of different kinds of readers. I can tell you that I will definitely be on the look out for the future books in this series.
Strange things are happening to Gretchen, Emma, and Penelope in this book. They should be focused on their debutante year and their entrance into society but there are a lot of other things happening to them that are keeping them from focusing on those more fun things in life. I really liked the characters but I did wish that we got to know a little bit more about them individually. This book is very much action driven rather than character driven.
I really liked that this book was set in a historical setting. I loved all of the detail about the things that the characters witnessed and how their families live. All of the families are fairly rich so it was interesting to see how they moved in that world. The historical details made this book jump out at me!
Overall, I really enjoyed this story. There is a lot of action and it was a great opening to a new series!
