Milostné pletky Nathaniela P. by Adelle Waldman

2.0

I had a very confusing emotional response to this book, and am holding nothing against it, but I did decide to DNF at about 60%. The base of my hard time with it is that I don't think I should be in the intended audience. I have been in my fair share of relationship and dating situations, and I think it's really cool and unique that Waldman does this exploration of a young liberal man who thinks he can do no wrong because he considers himself modern and progressive, but he's still a womanizer and not good to the women he dates. Here's where I had a hard time: I have been in a lot of these dating situations, and knowing what the men probably thought about me made me surprisingly uncomfortable, and created a lot of anxiety for me, so I decided to stop reading. I do not want to give a rating to this one, just because I don't think my experience with it would provide a fair rating, and I don't necessarily think there is anything wrong with the book. I definitely recommend that straight men read, and pack an open mind and some self-reflection!
