This is a nice short story and a quick, enjoyable read.
I especially loved the writing! The language is quite blunt but poetic at the same time. The author managed to illustrate the setting quite well. I also loved the characters. Even though we only got a glimpse into their lives in these few pages, I do feel attached to them.
As for the plot, I found the general topic to be interesting. However, the turn the story took with city's secret was not the kind of fiction I like. Since it's central to the story, I'm rating it three stars (otherwise, it would have been higher because of the writing and characters).
