Most of the BSC girls go to Hawaii on a class trip; Kristy and Mallory stay in Stoneybrook. Each girl gets a minor character arc. Claudia's storyline, about dealing with complicated feelings about Japan's role in WWII, has the most potential but given that it's reduced to a handful of chapters instead feels cheap.
