Cataclysm: The Ultimates' Last Stand by Brian Michael Bendis

4.0

This was surprisingly good. It was both a good Marvel Space book as well as a good Ultimates book - neither of which I expect much from. It had Galactus in it and wasn't horrible. Sure it contained a horribly weak Nick Fury and the Howling Commandos story - with a whole dumb nano religious plot that was just plain annoying. And clearly the writers could have done a whole lot better with Kitty Pryde - it's like they understand a little of her powers but almost nothing of her character. But the rest of the book was a good mixture of plot and characterization. Cloak and Dagger were used well, and I'd like to see more of Bombshell. The surviving X-Men from Utopia were actually pretty good. Was this a great book? No. But not bad. 3.5 of 5.
