While contemporary fiction isn't not my usual thing, this is definitely a fantastic look at disability culture and makes me even more angry they keep reverting Barbara in the canon timeline. This was interesting, and I will say there was an understanding of the character motivations I appreciated. This felt like a story that could be canon, and I think that's what I enjoyed about it, it doesn't need as much suspension of disbelief as I assumed it would based on what I had heard about it. Babs is still Babs, still the same cool and smart person she is, and this showcases her actual resourcefulness without relying on the crutch of the Batfam to prop her up.
