See How They Run by Tom Bale

2.0

Wow, not in a good way just wow! I feel like I need to give this a 1 star rating to counter all the high ones. I listened to this on Audio. I’m not sure I would have finished it if not for that and that I’d put it in a couple of challenges. I kept walking around the house groaning and calling out ‘seriously’ ‘not again’ who cares about Evie and her nappy’. Needless to say I got several dubious looks from my family. Seriously I do not understand all the 4 and 5 star ratings? Half of this book is the biggest snooze fest. It started off strong, had a great beginning, then it quickly deteriorated to mindless drivel. There is so much discussion about feeding Evie, Evie sleeping changing Evie and Evie’s nappy contents. Who considers this interesting never mind thrilling! The pace picked up towards the end of the book but by that time I’d already lost interest and couldn’t care less. I also had trouble with the behaviour of the main characters which to me was unrealistic. Though I could have suspended my belief in reality and gotten past that, if not for the incessant baby talk. I am disappointed as my library has several titles from this author on audio but I doubt I will listen to them.
I would love to know from someone who has this on ebook how many times the word nappy or nappies appears in a search, ridiculous.
