The Last Watch by J.S. Dewes

I wasn't hooked right away, but I'm glad I stuck with it because the payoff was worth it. Quite an enjoyable read.
Some of the characterizations were flawed, Cavalon feels a bit too smart and capable for example, but I can see how spreading some of those actions around to other characters could've detracted from the tale. And Rake's leadership skills are starting to coalesce by the end of the book, but wasn't she supposed to have been a formidable leader all along?  All in all those are small gripes in what really is a fun adventure and what's shaping up to be a compelling series.
