This book was pitched to me as an intentional play on Drarry (Draco/Harry) fanfiction made real. And, yes, it is definitely that – but it goes beyond that description. The magic system is super cool, the romantic pay-off HITS (seriously, one of the best first kiss scenes I've ever read for the context it sits in), and the energy doesn't let up once the action kicks in about halfway through. Simon truly is a terrible chosen one, but at the end of the day is a teenage boy just trying to survive.
