Marvel's Voices (2020) #1 by Evan Narcisse, Brian Stelfreeze, Chuck Brown, David F. Walker, Method Man, Roxane Gay, Kyle Baker, Anthony Piper, Ryan Benjamin, Geoffrey Thorne, Vita Ayala, Rob Markman

3.0

I think that the idea of this new series is much better than the execution. The world of comics hasn't always been diverse (and I don't just mean in terms of race). Marvel is doing the right thing in attempting to highlight voices of different creators. This specifically focuses on the art/writing of BIPOC comic creators. There were names that I was familiar with and others that were new to me. A few of the stories were enjoyable; however, they tried to do way too much with this single issue. There were to many stories with many just being one page with 5 or 6 panels. A lot of the stories ended up being confusing/didn't make sense because we had no context. I think that they would have been better off by creating an issue that focused on maybe 2 or 3 stories and build from there. I'm hoping that they improve in the next issues to come because it's a great idea, but like I said before the execution was not done well.
