Still I Rise by Maya Angelou

challenging inspiring fast-paced

5.0

In my search for reading poetry, I came across many an article deeming Maya Angelou a must-read in the world of verse. So when I saw this collection come available at my local library, I decided I'd give it a shot — and I'm SO glad I did!! How I lived a life not knowing anything about THE Maya Angelou is beyond me! If you're looking for the satisfying, rhyming type of poetry, she's written it. If you're looking for strength and resiliency, she's written it. If you're looking for black celebration and representation, she's written it. Such powerful messaging! Highly highly recommend! I'll be making it a mission to get through her works!!

My faves in the collection were:
• Phenomenal Woman
• Just For a Time
• On Aging

A couple quotes:
