What an incredibly refreshing read! Tetley Abednego is such a unique character with such a distinct voice. She’s stubbornly optimistic in what anyone might call a tremendously bleak post-apocalyptic world.

This story so eloquently illustrates a number of humanity’s enduring qualities: that no matter the state things, we will always adapt—we will continue to fall in love, tell stories, fight with our families, seek comfort, and at our worst, take what we have for granted, hoard resources, and acquiesce to being ruled in exchange for ease and protection.

This book made me laugh, this book made me cry, and this book made me think. I loved it immensely.
