Mo' Meta Blues: The World According to Questlove by Ben Greenman, Questlove

3.0

Humble he is not. I am inclined to rate this 2 stars, but I'll throw in an extra star on the assumption that a lot of the music stuff was just way over my head. I will agree with the book's editor that Thompson suffers from the Doppler-effect. As the book progressed, there was more and more straightforward recounting, with some hubristic boasting thrown in, and less of the really interesting introspection and reflection found in the chapters dealing with Thompson's early years. Maybe that's a natural by product of having evolved and found himself as an artist, but the struggle, the searching, the ambiguity of his earlier years just make for better reading.
