Habits of a Happy Brain: Retrain Your Brain to Boost Your Serotonin, Dopamine, Oxytocin, & Endorphin Levels by Loretta Graziano Breuning

5.0

I was approached by the author back in May of this year to read and review a free copy of this book. I started ew days after that but I was not hooked. Several things happened in between and is only now (almost 8 months later) that I could finished it, here in India.
Perhaps I was meant to wait, I was meant to ´need´this book. Now it worked and it made perfect sense.
"Habits of a happy brain" is one of those books that you not only read, but you take into practice. Its an "action book". The author talks about the highways that habits are made of and how to build new ones. It also discusses the happy chemicals"--serotonin, dopamine, oxytocin, and endorphin, which is something that I heard before but I never payed attention to. And also, it invites you to build new habits in 45 days (not 21, like most of us believed before).

I think it was hard to read the book so many months ago because I did not need it back then (also, the first half is more scientific oriented than the second half, which made it difficult for me); now, living abroad again and in a different scenario, a book like this is not only useful but precious.

When you read a book like this, you put most of your emotions aside and analyze your well being from a more rational and analytical perspective. You stop feeling like a victim and realize there's so many things you can choose to do in order to improve your life. Those things are mind investments, attitude investments, there's no money involved, there's a positive mindset behind it all.
