Codex Born by Jim C. Hines

4.0

This sequel, like its predecessor, was tons of fun! The story was inventive and fast paced with many different things going on, the action was plentiful, and the characters were fantastic! I really enjoyed diving back into this complex magical world and learning more about this unique theory.

While I loved Isaac and all the things he was up to, the choices he made as well as their cost, Lena continued to be the biggest star for me. It was great to see some snippets of her past and view things from her perspective. Despite her beginnings, she is an incredibly powerful character and I truly cannot get enough of her! Guttenberg was also a welcome addition as I find him totally compelling and interesting. I never know what to expect from him!

The villains this time around were dangerous, cruel, and deadly, while still managing to be quite complex. I hope to see more like them in the future. This series is a lot of fun and I'm having a great time reading it!
