Oh I knew I would love Scarlett and Tucker's story and I did. When I read Redesigned, the second book in this series, and saw how they were in that I just had to read After Math and get the whole story. It was so good. I loved Scarlett and Tucker so much!
Scarlett and Tucker are both broken. They both hide from others in their own way. Tucker hides his true self behind this bad boy player facade, and Scarlett keeps herself tucked away from everyone. I really liked that this wasn't a story of Scarlett always kind of liking Tucker from afar then when they get put together it just works kind of thing. This is really a Scarlett never really paid much attention to Tucker, but when she literally runs into him then has to tutor him in math everything changes.
Right from when they met there is something there between the two of them. They can both actually be themselves with each other. Tucker actually lets Scarlett see him, not the persona he usually wears. They both are so similar in so many ways even though they deal with their issues differently. I loved how they became friends before anything else. I loved the two of them together even if no one else seems to get it.
Scarlett has always been afraid of really living. She doesn't want to end up in the trailer park like her mom and sister. She wants more from her life and so she tries to keep her head down and just get it done. She has some social anxiety and Tucker helps her so much, without him even knowing it. He helps her open up and really start living. He knows her, knows what she is thinking and feeling, without her ever telling him. He just gets her because they are so similar. He knows what she needs without her saying. He is so sweet with her, but he is one of those people that doesn't think he is good enough for her. He doesn't want to hurt her, and because of his past and how broken he is he knows he will just mess this up.
Scarlett is the first person to really see Tucker for who he is. She actually wants whatever will make him happy, not whatever everyone else wants for him regardless of that. She wants things for him just for him. She doesn't have her own reasons for wanting him to do things like everyone else. She just wants him to be happy. She sees him in pain and knows what that is like. She tries to help him, tries to get him to see he can do what he wants. He doesn't have to continue doing what others want him to if it is not what he wants even if he is good at it. She was amazing and just like he helped her she helped him. They were so great together and I loved them. Such a great read.
