The Hunting Party by Lucy Foley was well written, but I was surprised by how similar it was to the Guest List. I found it enjoyable, but a lot of the moments felt similar enough to bring specific scenes back to mind, and that, combined with the format of the writing being identical, made them feel more similar than I would have preferred. Even the twist at the end felt a little similar. I wasn’t super thrilled by the side plot that was seemingly forgotten until it was needed to “throw off” the reader, and because of that the intended result wasn’t effective. Even though I found this book to be enjoyable, it wasn’t as thrilling for me because I felt like I had already read it. I really love Lucy Foley’s writing, I just wish there was a little more variation between the two books I’ve read by her. If you’re a fan of suspense novels with non linear timelines though, Foley is probably a good author for you. I would just recommend choosing which book to read (The Guest List was a little better in my opinions), rather than reading more than one (or at least not reading them close together).
