Don't Call It a Cult: The Shocking Story of Keith Raniere and the Women of NXIVM by Sarah Berman
Did not finish book. Stopped at 41%.
I know there is a Netflix show out about NXIVM, but I haven't watched it. The little bit I know about this "cult", Keith Raniere and the brandings of women was enough to pique my curiosity.
As an outsider looking in, it always amazes me that people can't see the red flags and get the heck away from these kinds of places. However, I understand, even better after reading this book, that the people in charge are master manipulators that prey on other's vulnerabilities and shame.
It's scary how quickly things can spiral out of control and a family member or friend can be lost to a situation like this.
The book provided a true crimes feel and the investigation was laid out nicely and was easy to follow with all the intricate details. I highly recommend for those that love true crime/investigative stories!
