The Thickety: A Path Begins by J.A. White, Andrea Offermann

4.0

This series has been popping up on my recommended-for-me list for years, so I finally decided to give it a go. It was much darker than I was expecting, considering it's a middle-grade book, but I enjoyed it. It reads as a gothic fairytale take on the Salem Witch Trials.

While I did enjoy the story, I don't know that I'm going to continue on with the series. At least not right away. Each book gets longer as you progress (the last three are all over 500 pages), and I just don't feel like devoting that kind of time to one series right now.

If you love gothic tales and long series, then I highly recommend this one. People who love to get completely lost and totally submerged in another world will find a creepy and well-built atmosphere in this series.
