Borne by Jeff VanderMeer

This is a book you need to read without any background. To describe it I think would take away from it. So my review will be very general with no spoilers and few plot points. The book is both Sci-Fi and Fantasy. It is such an unusual story. I really enjoyed it and find myself thinking about it a lot.

The characters are just as complex and as they are unusual. The story is told by Rachel a young female surviving a post-apocalyptic world with her distant boyfriend and a host of strange creatures. She finds Borne and your learn about him as he learns about the world.

Bahni Turpin is the narrator of the audiobook and is wonderful! Sometimes with audiobooks you feel like someone is just reading the story (which of course they are) but Turpin brought Rachel to life and it felt like Rachel was talking to you.
