Aurora by M.J. Marstens
4.0
It's so weird to realize that this is already the pre-last book in this season! In the beginning 15 books sounded like so many and now I feel like it was not enough. Silver Springs has been my home during this endless lockdown. It's a place where everything is possible, where weird things are the norm and where everyone gets loads and loads of love. I'm therefore quite thankful that I've been given arcs of these books and didn't have to wait for release day!
And this book was certainly among my favorites of this season! And that's mostly because Aurora and I really had a click. Although Aurora's personality was slightly more extreme than mine, we have a lot of traits in common. We're both intelligent people, trying to come up with scientific reasonable explanations for weird and strange things. We're both curious. We're both not too great at making friends and we both lack relationship experience.
Therefore I've been giggling quite a lot while reading this story. Dropping a scientific person into Silver Springs, save heaven for supernaturals, was just as hilarious as I had imagined it to be. Watching her struggle with all her observations, with the weird comments, with all the girls dating multiple men and with the concept of destined mates was just hilarious. Because trust me, although I'd wish I'd react better to this world, I'm entirely sure I wouldn't.
I also really loved Aurora's mates. Mostly because they were really straight forward when it came to telling her about this special connection. Just like they were very happy to tell Aurora everything about themselves she needed to know before deciding if she would really be okay with sharing her entire life with them. It therefore felt like, even though they were destined mates, everyone was really working for this relationship. And that's just how I like my romances!
