The Man with the Dark Beard by Annie Haynes

I have now read a few Annie Haynes books. It is not proving hard to guess the murderers
it's the super dislikeable person that you really hope did it, thank u next
but there are usually some unpredictable twists and turns on the way there, and wome pretty weird ass plotting. Plus she mixed in 20s feminist circles, and this book has a terrific elderly aunty who is pretty blunt about men and marriage and possibilities for women, wich definitely lifted it.

eta the dark beard thing is hilarious.
Dead guy: *found with note saying The Man with the Dark Beard!*
Police: Who did he know with a dark beard that he might have been naming as his killer? Let us hunt amongst the people in his inner circle!
Press: Look! He knew Mr Smith who had a dark beard! Smith must be the killer!
Absolutely nobody: Erm, if his pal Mr Smith had shot him, would he not have written "It was Mr Smith"? Just a thought.
