Breath of Scandal by Sandra Brown

3.0

* I received this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review*

I’ve never been a big fan of Sandra Brown. It’s not that I dislike her writing style, it’s just that they aren’t usually my kind of books. Well Breath of Scandal wasn’t my kind of book at all, but I still couldn’t put it down. I have to give the author serious credit here, because she wrote one hell of an amazing book. Jade went through an ordeal that would have cost a lesser woman everything, instead Jade turned it into serious career, a wonderful son, and the chance to get payback on those who harmed her.

There were many many characters that I absolutely hated in this book. Neal Patchett and his self-entitled bullshit. I have never wanted to kill a character so much in my life, but I had hoped that damn train had killed him. It was not to be. It was harder to hate Hutch and Lamar, because they were not the same kind of evil that Neal was. In a way it was worse because Neal used them to do his dirty work for him. Hutch and Lamar didn’t deserve forgiveness, but in a way they begged there way into getting one from me. At least they recognized what they did was wrong. They apologized to Jade, and yes there was no taking back that kind of act, but at least they owned there terrible choice. In the end karma/God/whatever got them for it. I was glad of that because Jade deserved her justice.

There were definitely parts of the story that moved slow, and I did find myself wishing that it would hurry up at times. I’d give it 3 out of 5 stars total based on that. I definitely recommend it for people who like mystery, suspense, and romance!
