Hamlet by William Shakespeare
4.0
To be, or not to be—that is the question.
To be quite honest, the main reason I started reading this book was to get the meaning behind the references in my favorite book, I fell in love with hope.
Needless to say, I was disappointed to learn that Yorick was mentioned only once, while he was dead, since I started reading Hamlet primarily for Hamlet and Yorick in the first place.
Moving forward, I loved the story, and I particularly took a liking to Hamlet's character. I now know where Percy got all of his sass from. Also, yes, top comment: I ship Hamratio.
If possible, I won't hesitate to buy a ticket to an actual play, for I know I will absolutely be obsessed with such.
The way this book treats Hamlet's grief and consequent madness is just so appealing for some reason. AND WHEN I LEARNED THIS WAS WRITTEN NOT LONG AFTER SHAKESPEARE'S ONLY SON, HAMNET, DIED, MY JAW DROPPED.
At last, I can officially say I've read Shakespeare before high school, I suppose.
And so, my rating is:
4 / 5 ☆
