The Last Coyote by Michael Connelly

4.0

Reading this, I really understand Harry's character - his mistrust of authority and his willingness to do whatever it takes to get to the truth. Harry has been suspended for attacking his boss - he is referred to counselling and while at first he doesn't take it seriously, he eventually realises that he must try to help himself. While he is suspended, he decides to investigate the death of his mother. She was a prostitute and was found dead in 1961. No-one was ever charged and the case remains unsolved. There were some powerful people involved and Harry has always suspected a cover up. As he investigates, things get a lot worse before they get better and Harry himself becomes a suspect in another murder related to the case.
