King Maker by Audrey Grey

I've loved the entire series so far, but this one has sealed me as a diehard fan who will recommend this book to everyone. It has everything I love in dark fantasy: Action, twists, betrayals, reveals, heart, creativity, magic, emotion, and steamy romance. Yet another book I lost sleep over. Even the epilogue had me swooning.

Where do I even begin?! The action is top notch and intense. Grey has a creative mind completely on display for this world she clearly loves to make. But the realm she brings us to this time is not as bright and shiny as she makes it seem. It is a cruel place and she does not let her villains hold back. I love books with tournaments in them and this is one of my favourite.

What truly has, and always will, sell this series is the characters. Everyone is given time in the spotlight. Haven continues to grow and learn from her mistakes and fight for what she believes in. I've loved watching her progression and with the reveals of her past, it will be amazing to see what she is capable of next! Speaking of capable, Stolas has totally won me over. His power is incredible and his heart is even bigger than I could have imagined it. Bell continues to grow into himself, and the side characters of Surai and Nasira are fantastic. Yet of all the characters, I found Archeron to have one of my favourite arcs, despite how ruthless and tragic it is. I dread and desire to see what he will do next.

I absolutely love this world and its lore. I could learn about it all day and never tire of it. Grey is such a talented author who enjoys bringing readers on a dark, exciting adventure with memorable characters and a slow burning romance. I truly cannot get enough. This is a perfect series for anyone who enjoys books similar to A Court of Thorns and Roses, strong female characters, powerful heroes, and heartbreaking adventures.
