The Hearts of Horses by Molly Gloss

4.0

This was a lovely novel, sweet and plain of word. It carried me along easily and steadily. Each line feels deliberate and thoughtful, much like the main character Martha, and overlies a wealth of emotion. It doesn't really match the cover or blurb, which make it seem schmaltzy and girly, and I really enjoyed this story of a reserved young women teaching horses to be bombproof and finding her place in the world. 4.5 stars.
