The author mentions in the acknowledgments that she started writing this book at 17... and it really shows. There’s just no substance to this story, and I wasn’t connected to the characters, world, or plot. It all just felt shallow and like they were just going through the motions of a fantasy story. Thank goodness this was a quick read, because there just wasn’t anything to it.
