The Warmth of Other Suns: The Epic Story of America's Great Migration by Isabel Wilkerson

5.0

Expansive, historical non-fiction often gets bogged down in the facts of what happened, rather than dwelling in the truth of those events. Isabel Wilkerson does an excellent job of limiting her scope to a select few individuals to show the impact of migration on people's actual lives, and the result is intensely readable.

I'm sure there are more exhaustive books on the subject, but The Warmth of Other Suns feels like the context necessary to fully appreciate them
