It's difficult to choose one rating for the entire work because it varies so greatly from one essay to another. On some pages I highlighted sections so poignant I felt like I could never express these truths better if I tried, and other essays were like pulling teeth to get through; even the finest writing can't compel you if you have no interest in a topic. And while his authorial voice wore on me by the end of the book, I have to acknowledge he's talented.
