Fun Home: A Family Tragicomic by Alison Bechdel

emotional hopeful inspiring reflective sad medium-paced

I enjoyed reading this. The last 30% was hard because the literary references felt really beyond my scope of knowledge, but the end was still solid and the allusions came together in a way that was ultimately accessible and moving. Not to be Gen Z, but very strange to be immersed in what queerness was like and how it was viewed in the past 50 years. The dad was such a dick, so heartbreaking, and so sympathetic at the same time. Such a complicated relationship. I appreciated the author's self-awareness throughout and her honesty. I would definitely recommend this to others.
