The Body Double by Emily Beyda
2.0

This book was weird. Not much made sense. I thought it would take some kind of turn and there'd be an exciting twist but there wasn't so the whole tone of the book was just flat. The ending was so freaking unsatisfying.

**Spoilers ahead**

The quick change from the MC being her own person to accepting an entirely new and very restrictive way of life was baffling. There were a few mentions of her not liking being like a prisoner but she embraced it for the most part.

Then later Max wouldn't let her even continue having pain pills after surgery but all of a sudden she has sleeping pills with no explanation for why or insight into why he was okay with letting her have them.

It was pretty clear to me from the beginning that Rosanna was actually dead. I thought maybe Max killed her which would have made sense. But then we find out she killed herself and that didn't even line up with the way people said Rosanna was. Leo was the only one to notice the birthmark and was obviously really close to her and he said Rosanna would never commit suicide, then it ends up that's what she did? It just felt off.

Then the ending. What the hell? A lot of the writing felt like the author was trying to be poetic but it didn't fit. The ending turned the book from bad to worse, for me.
