The Complete Maus by Art Spiegelman

5.0

I can't believe this book is banned. There was nothing and I mean NOTHING sexual or nude. In fact, the picture in question only shows part of the body and no fronts or backs. There were maybe two hanging pictures, but you never see the head. And in fact, if you looked at any of the pictures with dead mice without reading the text, you wouldn't know that they are dead. I've seen worse in history books about WWII/Holocaust in public schools than this book. This is flat out ridiculous and clearly from people who are Holocaust deniers.

Anyways. Off my soapbox. This book was emotional and lovely and quite honestly the best way to describe what happen. This is also probably one of the better graphic novel books that I have read, because it felt more like a conversation than a story. I never felt like I was missing information like I do in other graphic novels/comics; this is a main reason I stayed away from them for so long. I would only maybe say that the font was super small and the black / white made it difficult for this old woman to see clearly.

I loved this book. You will love it while you are thinking how can I read this book.
