4.0

Really great collection of comics. Some I absolutely loved, most I enjoyed, and a few I felt just didn't deliver.  But with such variety of works included it makes sense that one reader might not love them all. Still highly recommend! A solid four star read. Brief thoughts about each comic in the spoilers below, mainly for my reference.

In the dark anthology 24 comics

Murder farm
Love the almost 3d glasses, risograph style colouring with slightly offset colours - beautiful. Short and to the point. 8/10

The unseen
The art style was fine, loved the pink element for the otherworldly things, it looked luminous. Posed an interesting question on what would you do in her situation? Really chilling ending  9/10

Famine's shadow
Loved the art style, the muted grungy colours and dot textures. I liked the story but didn't really understand the ending. 6/10

The guilloteens
Pretty cool, if very short, like a snippet of some teen monster hunting show. Action was done pretty well but would have liked more 5/10

All things through me
Really cool concept, straight to the point storytelling with a satisfying ending. 9/10

When the rain comes
Interesting art style, a bit like charcoal, and story was OK. 5/10

The body
Interesting concept. Loved the nods to supernatural entities of different cultures. Not too keen on the ending. 5/10

Final meal
Really interesting art style, garish colours that make you feel uneasy. Really gross, but pretty good. 7/10

In plain sight
Interesting take on Dr jekyll and Mr hyde,  with a detective noire art style. Would have liked more 6/10

Why so sad?
Really creepy. Just enough to tell the story, no more no less. 7/10

Not all there
Really wild story, wasn't expecting it to go that way at all. Really gross and weird. 8/10

Shadows
Interesting art style and premise, but really gave me nothing. 3/10

Doc Johnson
Nice inky art, interesting story. I can see it working into something serialised really well. 6/10

The one that got away
Really interesting art - sketchy and scratchy looking with an emphasis on blue and orange, and the action lines were really dynamic. Great twist and callback to thr beginning. 9/10

Proximity
Gorgeous Sci fi colours in green, orange and purple with a vintage looking hue. I love the way they drew clouds,  absolutely gorgeous landscapes. Pretty good story. 8/10

The lost Valley of the dead
Really cool mix of cowboy esque western with prehistoric dinosaurs and zombie virus. 9/10

Set me free
Great confined space horror. Took me a minute go realise shat was going on. The red lighting effect really added to it. Payoff was great. 10/10.

The road to Carson
Short and to the point. Nice twist. 9/10

Body in revolt
Nice pop culture references,  I got the nods to the never ending story . Nice use of blue/green and red to make the supernatural pop. Really pretty final page. 7/10

The cage
Really short but clever. Excellent place to cut off. The horror is knowing what happens next. Horrible, but really good. 9/10

The girl on the corner
Excellent. Lovely muted colour palette, making the flashback footage in grey obvious without being jarring, and making the light blue of thr ghost teally pop. I love this interpretation of a ghost in the modern world, of course she would be treated like an attraction. Loved the twist and ending 10/10

Swan song
Really pretty art. Loved the wintery aesthetic.  Would be helpful if I understood German so I knew what the song lyrics meant. Liked the subtle difference between the first and last panels, really clever  7/10

Inside you
Interesting concept but I'm not sure it gave what it was hoping to. Maybe if told in flash backs it would have sold it better 5/10

Gestation
Yes, we love women loving women. Excellent end to the anthology. Great queen romance with a twist. 10/10

Pinup gallery
Really beautiful artwork gallery at the end
