Entanglement Bound: An Epic Space Opera Series by Mary E. Lowd

4.0

An excellent book with a pacing issue

This book is excellent. It's unique, fun, and exciting. The main character, Clarity, is a hero unlike most others, from her obsession with dolls to her intense platonic friendship with her shipmate.

In fact, almost all the characters are fascinating and unique, and it's a joy to learn more about them. I only wish we had more time with them, but hopefully that's what the sequel is for!

My only real issue with the book is that the middle loses the thread of the plot. There's a long time spent on a planet that has nothing to do with the plot that's been building. Some of the character development is good there, but it's just too long a interruption in what is otherwise a very tightly-woven plot.

Still, I'm looking forward to the sequel. Already preordered it. I can't wait to learn more about this diverse cast and universe.
