A Different Alchemy by Chris Dietzel

I was surprised to see there were more books in the series but happily continued on. I was devastated by the storyline, how could a mom feel that way toward her child? It shouldn't matter that your kid can't do anything. I was very impressed with the father and his connection to his son, but how did he not see how his wife felt and what she would do with their son when given the chance? Yet he kept going into a job he didn't need to go to and left his wife at home alone with a son she had no connection to. I was not, however, surprised that people found their solution to the block problem by doing what they did. I think this is the saddest part to me, my lack of surprise at the selfishness of people.
